You should read the novel from the beginning, actually. There are some differences here and there, like how Tigre didn’t even try kiss Elen when she was sleeping after getting drunk during that one party in the novel, while in the manga, he did move in to kiss her before stopping himself.

Don’t worry, Madan isn’t like that. There’s some ecchiness, admittedly, but it’s not to the level of Shinmai, HxH and Magika (the first and third of which I’m also reading – they’re really good if you can handle the Borderline-H stuff, and the Borderline-H and ecchi is part of the plot, too).
But yeah, again, Madan isn’t like that. But you should read it more for the fact that it’s the original story. Adaptations don’t always follow the original story to the T. They’re even allowed to completely change it if they want – case in point, the first anime series of Full Metal Alchemist, which didn’t follow the manga at all.

Speaking of Vanadis class weapons, why hasn’t one shown up in any of the other kingdoms? Granted Zchted’s were brought forth by one man and Brune has Tigre’s bow, but why hasn’t anything of similar power or make shown up somewhere else?
